Assalamualaikum (Greetings) Although there are too many trains to travel between Karachi and Lahore But among these, one is my personal favorite And it is Karakoram Express Out of many reasons to like Karakoram Express, first is.. that it has been named on Karakoram Mountain Range situated in our beloved Pakistan's Gilgit Baltistan region This mountain range include summits of K2,
Gasherbrum, Broad Peak, Masherbrum and Rakaposhi etc. Second reason is its inauguration with complete CNR rake. Third its route from Khanewal to Lahore via Faisalabad in which you also get to see single line crosses This train was first inaugurated in 14th August 2002 And it used to be one of the best trains of Pakistan Railways Karakoram Express fare of economy class between Karachi and Lahore is 1950 Rs and Business class fare is 4950 Rs Ticket fare doesn't include food and other complimentary services Anyway, lets come to the journey now.. I chose 30th March 2021 And reached Karachi Cantonment Station before 45 minutes of departure According to winter timetable, Karakoram Express schedule for departure is 3:30 pm Karachi Cantonment Station was busy as always and many people were present there Anyway,
I reached platform #1 making my way where hustle bustle was same like it always is. Today I was traveling on such train after quite some time that departs from platform #1 of Karachi Cantt Without wasting time, I reached near locomotive where I saw today's locomotive which had to lead us today from Karachi to Lahore Today's locomotive was GEU-40-9013 which is 4500 horsepower diesel locomotive of General Electric USA and is import of 2017 Here I also met brother Atiq who is my subscriber and specially came to Karachi cantt station to meet me Although, today my journey was in economy class but thought to cover Business Class CNR coach until I was present there Business class coach has 6 berth cabins
While going towards my coach, I also saw the waiting room for gents which I had always found closed before My journey today was in 13 number coach And my coach today was CFI coach means made in Carriage Factory Islamabad Train was about to depart and people were busy waving last goodbyes to their loved ones Finally train departed at 3:44 pm where I said Goodbye to my family members and then started my journey Slowly 41UP Karakoram Express left the platform It was too hot today and the water which

had dinner a bit early In today's menu was Pulao which was made by my mother And like always Noman also brought Chicken Qorma & Kheer (Milk Dessert) Oranges were present too During journey sharing food is super awesome Today got excellent chance to do justice with food After dinner, had tea bag tea which is much needed in train journey While enjoying evening ride, continued the journey and then train stopped at Tando Adam Station because right ahead of us was 45UP Pakistan Express Spent sometime while resting and then at 11:20 night, train reached Rohri Junction where train stops for 20 minutes Rohri was in full swing like always which made 20 minutes to pass in blink of eye At Rohri station,
met one of my subscriber who recognized me At about 11:40pm, train departed from Rohri station and nearby station, met one of the down train After that, I slept and when I woke up around 6, my train was entering Khanewal limits After reaching Khanewal, carriage staff started working on train Until carriage staff is busy servicing the train this lamp remain installed which remains in sight of both assistant pilot and guard Inside it an earthen lamp remain lighted which looks red due to red glass Saw 9013 engine in morning and its windscreen was getting cleaned Early morning, also saw the van of Pakistan post on which post was being loaded. a track machine was present on which two railway workers were having sweet sleep inside mosquito net I really loved this scene After visiting engine, I came towards food stalls but they were not crowded early morning like they use to be at breakfast time Finally at 6:25am,
train departed Khanewal When train was passing near the same track machine at that time railway workers also woke up from their sleep Instead of mainline, 41UP Karakoram Express travels from Khanewal to Lahore journey on Khanewal-Wazirabad branch line until Sangla Hill and then after travelling on Sangla Hill-Shandara branch line, it connects back to mainline Watching swinging fields, journey continued and they were looking excellent in morning time Since this branch line is single Therefore a little before Faisalabad,

Karakoram Express was stopped at Loop Line of Risalewala where its cross was arranged with 28DN Shalimar Express Risalewala is beautiful small station and seeing the cross there was really good Finally at 9 AM, train reached Faisalabad station On Karakoram Express, most people travel for Faisalabad Therefore, train almost got empty at Faisalabad station At about 9:12 am, train departed from Faisalabad At about 10:34AM, train though passed Qila Sheikhupura where on loop line 112DN Badar Express was stopped Now train reached Shahdara Bagh Jn.
